The first kick: 2023
Our journey began in 2023 at the famous #4 grass field at Brennan Park. A small, enthusiastic group of adult players came together, driven by a shared passion to make a difference. It was a beautiful day in the sun, filled with music from personal speakers, exciting raffle prizes generously donated by local businesses, and a delicious BBQ where the soccer league president himself flipped burgers. That day, we proudly raised $4,000, setting the foundation for what was to come.
Growing momentum: 2024
In 2024, our event blossomed! We saw twice as many adult participants, with friends and family cheering from the sidelines. The Rotary of Squamish hosted an incredible BBQ at Howe Sound Secondary school, adding to the festive atmosphere. Our goal was to double our fundraising to $8,000, but thanks to the incredible support of our community, we exceeded all expectations and raised a total of $10,000!
Kids join the game: 2025
The year 2025 marked a major shift as we prioritized the inclusion of kid participants. Both adults and children played co-ed friendly matches on the Brennan Park turf, creating an even more vibrant and inclusive event. We amped up the energy with an MC, lively music, bigger raffle prizes, and an impressive BBQ that fed a couple hundred people. Our event was even featured on Rogers TV, spreading our message of community and support even further.
Community, growth, and impact
Every year, our Kicks 4 Kids event has grown, not just in participants and volunteers, but also in the incredible donations and unwavering support we receive. It's truly amazing to witness how our community in Squamish comes together in support of such a vital cause, helping less fortunate families and kids access the joy of soccer.
